Community & Economic Development

The Hudson-Webber Foundation believes thriving neighborhoods and inclusive economic opportunity are key to Detroit’s future. We invest in efforts that strengthen local economies, support small businesses, and connect residents to living-wage jobs—building a city where everyone has a chance to succeed and take pride in where they live.

Strategic Focus

  • Support small-business growth and expand access to quality jobs
  • Advance innovative capital models and policies that drive inclusive neighborhood development
  • Partner with public-sector leaders to remove barriers and accelerate equitable economic growth

We envision a vibrant, inclusive Detroit where all residents have access to opportunity, strong community networks, and the resources to live with dignity and purpose.

Objective

  • Support the growth and success of small businesses that create local jobs, strengthen neighborhood stability, and drive community revitalization
  • Expand access to living-wage jobs and create new opportunities in an evolving economy
  • Foster an environment that promotes inclusive and sustainable growth

“We envision a Detroit where all neighborhoods have equitable voice, power and influence in neighborhood decisions; and there is a just and comprehensive system of community development that centers the needs and visions of community residents.”

— Community Development Advocates of Detroit
